Naomi Osaka was born on October 16, 1997. She is a Women’s tennis player with world’s No. 1 ranked. She won Grand Slam at 2018 U.S Open and 2019 Australian Open. She is first Asian Women player to reach in this top level of ranking.

She is a tennis player born in Japan and grew up in United State. She holds Japanese citizenship and she also represents Japan on the court despite of her father who is from Haiti and her mother is from Japan. She served as a speed of 120 mil per hour and she was the first Japanese player to win a Grand Slam title and become first Asian tennis player to hold world’s No. 1 rank.
Early Life and Family
She was born on 16 October, 1997 in Osaka City, Osaka, Japan. Her father name is Leonard Maxime Francois and her mother name is Tamaki Osaka. Both they met in Sapporo, Japan in 1990s and fell in love with each other but Tamaki’s family were not really happy with this relationship despite of it they marry together and they moved together in the city of Osaka, Japan. Where Naomi born. Naomi have an old sister Mari who is 18 month older. Both these girls got her mother’s last name reason behind is that it will help them to live in Japan very happily.
Her father Francois got inspired by Venus and Sarena Williams father after knowing that they were also trained by her father in a French Open match in 1990. In they same way Francois started Tennis training to Osaka. When she was just 3 year old in her family moved from Japan and settled in United State and started living with her father’s family and from there they started trained by Francois and both they started playing tennis. In 2006 they moved to Florida where Osaka and her sister used to practice with her father during day. At that time her mother were working to support there family.
Mari the elder sister of Osaka motivate her to beat. She told CNN that “It took 12 years to beat her, It was probably one of the biggest moments of my career. She beat me probably more than 1,000 times over my childhood.”. Initially Mari were very promising player but due to injuries her career got lost. Initially Osaka’s family mindset was that the tennis is just to get good pay off but later on it changed when she become successful.
Her Tennis Career
Osaka skipped junior level of tournaments and directly started pro satellite tours in the same way as Venus & Serena did earlier. Till 2013 she become a pro player and in 2016 she got selected as “Newcomer of the Year” by Women’s Tennis Association. She won her first WTA tour in March 2018 at Indian Wells, California. As a first Asian and Japanese player she won U.S. Open in September 2018 Grand Slam title. In January 2019 she was also on topped in Australian Open and she become the first player to win a Major Australian Open title in her first Grand Slam Win after that Victory Osaka become the world’s No. 1 ranking player and become the Asian first player to become No. 1 rank. She practiced in USA since her childhood but always played under Japanese flag becouse her father pushed her saying that Japan Tennis Association would offer more support than US Tennis Association. After Australian Open she left her Coach Sascha Bajin who had been with fer since her last two Grand Slam titles and Jermaine Jenkins become her next coach though by 2020 she again switched her coach and started with Wim Fissette.
She showed her sportsmanship by giving invitation to oppenent in Coco Gauff to join her in an interview post game interview reason behind is that she didn’t want that the younger player who recently started her mathch go off due to this defeat and cry alone in a cornor. She is now preparing for 2020 Olympics which was about to conducted in Tokyo till this COVID-19 pandemic due to this postpond she said, “Of course I am disappointed that it won’t happen this year, but we’ll all be ready to go stronger than ever in 2021.” She is music lover and she always love music and she mostly love hip-hop or rap music.
Osaka and Serena Williams Match
She wrote a report about Williams and said that I always admitted that “Sometimes when I’m in a really important position, when I’m serving, I’m like, ‘What would Serena do?”
In the last match Osaka beat Williams at Miami Open in 2018 then again both they faced off together in 2018 U.S.Open where again Osaka won but the most important things happen during match Williams got angered because of her penalty she got and due to this angerness the umpire again issued two more penalties and that was become the main reason for that game loss. All the crowd were upset due to this action and they were not happy with the umpire decision they were booed at the trophy ceremony as well and due to this Osaka’s face were like teary but Williams came forward and put an arm around her neck and praised her for the win. After the match in an Interview Osaka said “I know that everyone was cheering for Williams. I’m sorry it had to end like this. I just want to say thank you for watching the match.” Williams also sent a letter of apology with written that “I am, was, and will always be happy for you and supportive of you. I would never, ever want the light to shine away from another female, specifically another black female athlete.” Osaka responded by telling Williams, “No one has stood up for themselves the way you have and you need to continue trailblazing.”
Osaka’s Japanese Citizenship.
By birth she was a Japanese Citizen but when she grew up and went in US she got a US Citizenship as well but in Japan there is a low which require to opt in only single country citizenship and that’s why when she turn up 22′ Old she select to keep her Japanese Citizenship. In an Interview with USA Today, she told that “When I go to Japan people are confused,” and “From my name, they don’t expect to see a black girl.” In if you are a mixed-race children then people will called you “hafu” which means “half” and they have to faced alots of discrimination. She got unique sense of humor and which often display in many press conferences. In a response to a reporter and being asked about her career goals she joked that everyone was born in the city of Osaka has got her last name. she also quoted the Pokémon theme song: “To be the very best, like no one ever was.” She knows Japanese very less despite have Japanese Citizenship. Once she tweeted that “I can understand most Japanese, and I speak when I want to.” in many times people often speak in Japanese and she answered it in English.
